One of the most misunderstood of all disorders is the eating disorder making it extremely important to find an eating disorder treatment center that understands how to treat eating disorders like anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder properly.

Depending upon the type of eating disorder you have, an eating disorder treatment center must have certain key components in order to provide quality treatment. Some of these components of care are:

Types of Eating Disorder Treatment Centers

Hospital based program - This type of eating disorder treatment center is located in a general hospital to take advantage of the wide array of medical services that are offered. Many hospital-based eating disorder programs are for the treatment of anorexia nervosa.

Free standing facility - This is a standalone building dedicated to the specialty treatment of eating disorders. In most cases, this type of eating disorder treatment center does not provide acute medical services. It is capable of treating all eating disorders, unless medical or psychiatric acuity prohibits the treatment of the individual.

Residential treatment facility - This is a campus that is similar to a free standing facility but provides treatment for a variety of disorders such as drug addiction, alcohol addiction or dual diagnosis.

Each of these eating disorder treatment centers differs in their costs for treatment. Consider choosing one that will accept your health insurance.
