After searching the web for eating disorder programs I finally came across several that seemed to be comprehensive enough to meet my needs. Ironically enough all of the eating disorder treatment programs were located in Florida. The florida eating disorder programs offered a variety of services that ran from psychiatric care to aftercare and everything in between. More than anything I did npt want to be in a hospital and the Florida eating disorder programs were independant apartment style living.
Suffering from compulsive overeating, I did not need so much medical care at this point as I did psychiatric for my depression. Treatment for compulsive overeating took on a 12 step approach to recovery as did drug addiction and alcoholism. As a matter of fact, the eating disorder program I went to in Florida had alot of people there recovering from addiction. I urge everyone looking for treatment from compulsive overeating or an eating disorder program to look at the Florida eating disorder programs before you decide where to go.
