TESTIMONIALS

I have a wife with bulimia and it was getting to the point where I couldn't take it any more. She needed bulimia treatment badly, but I didn't know where to turn. Through the internet I came across your site and sent my wife for bulimia treatment at your center.

Whoever she first spoke with made her feel so comfortable, she even became excited about the possibility of not having to binge and purge any more. The change in her is amazing. I know she will always be recovering, but I am proud to say she is the most courageous person I know. Thank you for all of your help.

-- Preston V., Nashua, New Hampshire

I needed to find an eating disorder clinic so badly. I used to eat compulsively and had swung over completely to purging and laxatives. I felt so bad about myself, the shame and guilt was just killing me. I had been to an eating disorder clinic before, but they really did not address my mood swings, that I have since understood them to be a bipolar disorder.

Your staff kept telling me that my eating behavior was a symptom of other problems. Well even though I didn't believe them they turned out to be right. I don't use laxatives, I have even learned to exercise moderately. Thank you so much. By the way, it has been ten months since I last purged.

Well Shelly, I told you I would write when I had one year in recovery and here I am. Who would have guessed. I have so much gratitude for you taking your time and referring me to a great facility. I knew from the moment I walked in there that I was in the right place. The next time I come by it will be to visit, not as a patient. You are absolutely the greatest.

Anorexia Recovery

If you need help achieving anorexia recovery, please call our nationally recognized toll-free helpline today at 1-800-941-5313. Find eating disorder treatment and get on the road to anorexia recovery. Caring professionals are standing by 24/7 to assist you and all calls are confidential.

Research has shown that the earlier a person enters eating disorder treatment, the better the chances are of achieving a full recovery. Add to this the fact that anorexia has the highest mortality rate of all psychiatric disorders and it's easy to see why one should enter an anorexia recovery program as soon as possible.

The Best Type of Anorexia Recovery Program

For the most part, by the time one is ready for an anorexia recovery program, outpatient services will not be enough. The best course of action is to enter a residential anorexia recovery program where your physical and mental recovery needs can be met. In some cases, hospitalization is required to physically stabilize the person, before they even enter an anorexia recovery program.

The inpatient anorexia recovery program will provide 24 hour structure and accountability for the patient, providing them with support around food and weight issues, as well as, support after eating. For those patients who are literally starving themselves, intravenous feeding may be the only option until the individual can participate in the nutritional component of the anorexia recovery program.

The psychiatric component of care will be a significant part of the person's anorexia recovery. Most individuals looking to achieve anorexia recovery suffer from some form of psychiatric disorder such as:

  • Obsessive compulsive disorder
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Depressive disorder
  • Borderline personality disorder
  • Mood disorder

In order for a person in an anorexia recovery program to begin to eat in a healthy manner, and to discontinue self destructive behavior, patients are usually prescribed psychiatric medications. Once these patients have achieved recovery, each person will be taught medication management and the danger associated with discontinuing their medication without psychiatric supervision.

As stated earlier, anorexia recovery is not easy, but can be achieved with the right program. Don't wait any longer as self recovery is usually not an effective option. Anorexia is a progressive illness. Our nationwide data base, coupled with our professional helpline staff can find you an anorexia program capable of meeting your recovery needs.

Take a moment and call our toll-free confidential helpline at 1-800-941-5313. We are available to help 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
