I have a wife with bulimia and it was getting to the point where I couldn't take it any more. She needed bulimia treatment badly, but I didn't know where to turn. Through the internet I came across your site and sent my wife for bulimia treatment at your center.
Whoever she first spoke with made her feel so comfortable, she even became excited about the possibility of not having to binge and purge any more. The change in her is amazing. I know she will always be recovering, but I am proud to say she is the most courageous person I know. Thank you for all of your help.

I needed to find an eating disorder clinic so badly. I used to eat compulsively and had swung over completely to purging and laxatives. I felt so bad about myself, the shame and guilt was just killing me. I had been to an eating disorder clinic before, but they really did not address my mood swings, that I have since understood them to be a bipolar disorder.
Your staff kept telling me that my eating behavior was a symptom of other problems. Well even though I didn't believe them they turned out to be right. I don't use laxatives, I have even learned to exercise moderately. Thank you so much. By the way, it has been ten months since I last purged.

Well Shelly, I told you I would write when I had one year in recovery and here I am. Who would have guessed. I have so much gratitude for you taking your time and referring me to a great facility. I knew from the moment I walked in there that I was in the right place. The next time I come by it will be to visit, not as a patient. You are absolutely the greatest.

What is Adult Sexual Abuse?
Adult sexual abuse includes both sexual harassment and rape. Sexual harassment includes any unwelcome sexual advances or unwanted sexual contact by another adult. People involved in sexual harassment may also tell sexual jokes, ask for sexual favors or use crude or abusive language in the presence of someone else who is not inviting the behavior. Victims of harassment may wrongly blame themselves for having somehow contributed to the situation.
Rape is the forceful act of sexual intercourse against a person's will or consent. The focus of rape is power or anger and not sex. Rape is frequently carried out by someone known to the victim and can even occur within a marriage. Anal intercourse, which may this type of adult sexual abuse, is called sodomy. Fellatio, or oral sex, may also be a forced act that accompanies a rape. Threats of serious bodily harm or death are often connected to adult sexual abuse. Following an assault, victims may often feel like they have been ruined by the horribly painful event. This is called sexual trauma. Victims of rape may also wrongly blame themselves for somehow getting into the situation where the sexual abuse occurred.
Adult Sexual Abuse Facts
Most rapes are committed by men between the ages of 20 and 50.
Victims of rape range from under 2 years of age to more than 80 years of age.
More than 50 percent of all rapes reported in the United States occur against females under 18 years of age.
Strangers commit only about one-half of all rapes; the other half are caused by men who are known to their victims.
Relatives of the victim commit about 5 percent of all rapes.
In more than one-third of all cases of rape, the male, the female or both were using drugs or alcohol.
Males are almost always the perpetrators of adult sexual abuse in the United States.
Adult sexual abuse occurs during any age of adulthood even into the geriatric population. More than 100,000 rapes (which equals about 300 episodes every day) are reported in the United States every year. As high as that number may seem, it is believed that most rapes go unreported to authorities. In addition, victims of child sexual abuse are at a high risk to not just be a victim of continuing adult sexual abuse but also a perpetrator of it as well.
